Excellence

Excellence is a key element of the educative system of the German School of Málaga. This translates into all areas: the work in the classrooms, the internal management, the communication with parents and students and, of course, into the external communications, both online and offline.

Excellence
as a principle
Excellence is a key element of the educative system of the German School of Málaga. This translates into all areas: the work in the classrooms, the internal management, the communication with parents and students and, of course, into the external communications, both online and offline.
Goals
- To design, develop and supervise the corporate image of the German School of Málaga in all channels.
- To improve the communication between their different stakeholders, in the right tone of voice for each.
- To promote the culture of belonging.
- To help with the digitalisation process of the school.
Challenges
- Targeting a wide audience in the right channels and with the right messages.
- Modernising an “iron image” and adapt it to the Mediterranean lifestyle.
- Organise and execute a strong and social media plan.
A school with almost one thousand students has a very busy social life. We use Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube to inform about the huge events going on at the school and what the students’ school year looks like. Newsletters and emails are often used when more important information is shared. Thanks to these actions, the school has managed to set up links with other German schools around the world, as well as creating a meeting place for parents, students, former students, and friends of the German School of Málaga.
The natural evolution and implementation of its newly designed logo was an important milestone, over which we had to work fluently to adapt the corporate image of an extensive library of communication to the new requirements, supported by a sophisticated corporate identity manual that facilitates the right treatment for the different areas and providers, ensuring its correct use every time.
Design as part of the communicative process
Graphic design is a premise in how the German School communicates. Aware of its importance, when transmitting messages and knowledge, this ideology spans to each of the areas of the school, from the educative processes to the merely informative or advertising processes.
The yearbook of the German School is a 20 page book where all the activities done during the school year are collected, and where all the areas of the School take part, from teachers to students. Our input, as well as the design and final artwork of this yearbook, is and was to boost the role of the students, humanizing a great part of the contents and making things less aseptic, more personal, and more integrated with school life and its day by day. The result is a careful collection of memories that the students keep with love and where they are clearly the main characters.
The school diaries are also personalised, and they adapt to the level of the students. There are different models for the Primary and Secondary students, each year with a different theme, which requires a constant creative effort.
The daily use and the durability of the materials are taken into account to give the students a useful and lasting tool.
Conclusions
For almost 10 years we have been working side by side with the German School in its process of digitalisation and in the implementation of the advertising techniques that equate the communication activities with the academic excellence already achieved.
